Battery Safety: How To Get The Most From Your Vape Batteries
Rechargeable vape batteries are often found in sub ohm kits and devices and offer users access to increased power when they vape – compared to devices with integrated batteries. It’s important to understand the basic concepts of battery safety to protect yourself and those around you.
There are a number of different vape batteries available, from the most common 18650 battery all the way to the larger 20700, 26650 and 21700 batteries. While they’re rechargeable, eventually all vape batteries will need to be replaced. We thought it would be useful to compile a basic guide on understanding battery safety and utilise your batteries to get the most from them.
CHARGING YOUR BATTERIES
Many vape mods support internal charging of batteries, this is where you charge the batteries inside of the vape device using a USB cable. Whilst this is easy, we recommend that you use a dedicated battery charger for removable battery devices as it not only prolongs the overall lifespan of batteries but also offers a quicker charge.
It’s also important to not overcharge your batteries, overcharging will run your batteries down and will reduce their capacity over time. The same is true for undercharging batteries, continuous undercharging will reduce their capacity. Batteries with a reduced capacity or ones that won’t hold their charge will need to be replaced.

VAPE BATTERIES AND E-LIQUID
If you find that your vape batteries are wearing down faster than usual, there are certain knacks to keep them going for longer between charges. Your e-liquid can have a huge impact on this, with certain blends requiring more power to heat them to the point they turn to vapour.
A higher PG e-liquid, such as a 50% PG e-liquid / 50% VG vape liquid, are thinner in thickness and require less heat to turn into vapour, meaning you’ll need less power from your battery.
Vaping less, in general, can also help your batteries last longer. Salt nicotine e-liquids provide a faster absorption of nicotine with a smoother throat hit to match, meaning you can use a higher nicotine strength blend which will help you vape less but still satisfies cravings appropriately.
BATTERIES AND HARDWARE
When using vape devices at higher wattages you may notice that your batteries run out of charge faster. To keep them going for longer, we recommend you decrease the power output; doing this in conjunction with using a higher PG e-liquid can make a noticeable difference to battery life.
When choosing your vape battery, we always recommend you pick a trusted and well-known brand, such as Molicel, EXOCELL and Efest. It may be tempting to buy a cheaper battery, but in the long run, you’ll notice the difference when it comes to performance and lifespan.
